blog 5

http://flawlessfitnessbook.com/blog/ The reason we chose this specific blog was because most of us are in a Sport and Wellness program and are always looking for ways to get fit. The theme of the blog is to promote an active and healthy lifestyle for everyone, mostly for adults and college students. The ads on the side bar are all related to the overall theme of fitness and to our class.

  1. Our group liked this blog becasue it seemed to have relevance for our class. Fittness is what the majority of us focus on either with our majors or our lifestyles. There were multiple ads that were on the side of the blog that were selling fitness equipment and clothing that most people would tend to workout in. Having this blog be so relevant to us creates pathos for us as readers because we are tied to what the blog is talking about because so many college students, adults, and people in general in America are looking for ways to get fit in a healthy way.

  2. This blog is relevant to anyone who wants to stay in shape, or wants more information about staying healthy. Through the appeal to being fit the blog applies to us emotionally as readers. The commercials on the side add to the appeal by relating to different aspects of wellness. This blog also contains logos in the facts given to be healthy. It supports its claims with some evidence along with scientific information. Overall this blog is relevant to anyone who is interested in being healthy by providing factual information in many different topics.

  3. Going off of the main post, this blog really is centered around health and fitness. The blog is more specific, focusing on fitness rather than a variety of topics. I feel that the amount of readers for this blog would be less in numbers than some of the other blogs as not everyone is active with health and fitness. In the U.S. today, obesity has started to take over, and efforts to promote health and fitness are stronger now than ever before, which makes this blog relevant and timely.

  4. This is my favorite blog so far. I really liked all of the different workouts that were posted.

  5. I really like how this blog includes news about products and such, along with advice. Another thing I found interesting about this blog was the titles of the articles. They were eyecatching and interesting. They clearly stated what the article was going to talk about, but they usually did it in a clever way. For example, I liked the article "How to tell your girlfriend or wife she needs to lose weight-without getting slapped." Just reading that title made me interested in the article. Who likes getting slapped?!

  6. Being a Sport and Wellness Scholar really factored into our group picking this blog. Fitness is something that should be realative to all people, not just our scholars group. This blog shows some signs of pathos because it relates to emotional things, such as the article that relates to telling your wife/girlfriend that she needs to lose weight, without being physically abused.

  7. This blog seems very beneficial to us, since we are all apart of the sport and wellness scholars. It gives great fitness information and has a large array of articles. I also like how most of the blogs show a picture of something related to the article, it gives the viewer an idea of what it talks about without reading the title. I think this also very relevant since most college kids want to stay in shape.

  8. Now I get it! I'm the only one not in this Sport&Wellness Scholars program :) love it! Well kudos to all of you. As far as this blog, I'm not disagreeing with the declared relativity of it all, however it is certainly aimed towards males. It is run by a single blogger, aka "Fit Jerk". Not only does he post all the articles, but he is marketing his book and training services. Overall, this guy is just trying to make his own impact on such a crucial issue our society faces [obesity and unhealthful habits].

  9. This is a great blog not just for us SWS, but for anyone interested in fitness. The articles are informative and can help you learn new things. An example of this would be "A Basic Understanding Of Dietary Fat: Part 1." There are also many reviews of a variety of new products so you can have an idea about it before buying it.

  10. The site is a kinda amateur version of a diet and supplement site. The information may be good but exercise information almost always has a motive behind it. The author of the website defiantly keeps it casual by frequently swearing in his posts. He will even answer your comments if you leave any. This is the one response he said to a person who recommended just eating healthily. "Shut the fuck up! I dont need you comin in here, talking all common sense and shit… ;)(winky face)"

  11. I agree with Hannah! It does seem to be slightly geared towards males, like with the article "How to tell your girlfriend to lose weight". What about a boyfriend? However, I thought the blog had several articles that pertained to anyone wanting to live a healthy lifestyle. I also liked that it didn't focus just on working out, but also on sleep and eating healthy. Good Blog!

  12. Good point Kailey!..How would you tell a boyfriend to lose weight?

  13. While this blog is relevant to many in our english class, its common theme of fitness is also relevant to most fitness fanatics. This blog varies from the others in that the sole contributer to the blog is trying to sell a product. The fact that the author is promoting his product leads to a biased view throughout the blog, and his comments in reply to his viewers reflect this bias. As Nate said, this develops an amateur argument with an additional motive. This creates a sense of immaturity and reduces the pathos of the site.

  14. I feel like though this blog doesn't really apply to my lifestyle, it is geniously set up. It uses pictures of extremely fit people along side its articles to motivate people and convince them that what they are saying in their articles will actually help them. It also has plenty of ads for supplements and other fitness equipment that also "gets people in the mood" to get in shape. While all of the "frills" make it appealing, I feel like it, like many other blogs online, may not be totally credible because almost anyone has access to it.

  15. This blog is really interesting and contains a lot of useful information, but what does this information mean when we don't know the credibility of the author? I like that he is very up front and not afraid to say what most people would be afraid to. He definitely is very persistent in wanting people to subscribe to his blog. Everywhere I look on the page there is a section that says, Free Headstart Fitness Report when you subscribe! The advertising is relevant for readers of this blog considering they are all fitness products. The blog does contain lots of logos like images of fit people, and the language that he uses could also appeal to certain people.

  16. I also agree with Hannah! This blog is set up so that the reader thinks it has good intentions of trying to help them get into shape but in reality the creator of the blog is mainly interested in selling his products. The advertisements on the sidebar are full of different supplements and workout enhancers. In addition, all of the people featured on the blog are extremely toned and muscular which is an effective way of making the followers of this blog believe that the author’s products and advice really work. However, since we don’t know the credibility of this man or the safety of his products, it takes away from the ethos of the blog. Overall, the blog is effective at stimulating its audience but it lacks credibility.

  17. I agree that its important to realize that the point of this blog seems to be to make money. I believe Fitness Jerk wants the audience to read their blog posts so that they become more interested in their own fitness. As the audience sees ads and picture of people in ideal shape, their desire to improve their bodies will hopefully grow and possibly inspire them to buy the authors products online. I think Tori put it well when she said that "the blog is effective at stimulating its audience but it lacks credibility."

  18. I thoroughly enjoyed this blog. It's a great source to find out several ways of diet/nutrition. Most of the information is somewhat true and needs further information to back it up. The format could be cleaner with a better navigational tool. I think the website is pointing towards teens/young adults/adults. It is an effective way to learn about fitness.

  19. I think this blog is laid out perfectly and very easy to find what you are looking for. The titles are clear and easy to follow to find the article or type of article you want. This blog is also perfect for people looking to get in shape. FitJerk even reviews different fitness related products that reader of the blog may use. If someone is trying to lose weight or just get into shape this blog is perfect.

  20. This blog is very informative on new ideas and different ways of staying active and healthy. I liked that the titles of the articles were very straightforward as well as catchy. This directly appeals to most of our class because the majority of us are Sports & Wellness Scholars. Besides articles about working out, there are articles about diet and healthy habits which interest me as well.

  21. This blog is relevant to college life because we are all trying to find a way to stay fit. The blog is laid out where you can easily navigate your way through it and it makes it almost like you are reading a magazine. Also the ads around the blog go along with the blog because they both have a fitness based background.

  22. This blog is directed more towards men than women. Especially men who want to get really big as opposed to just getting into shape. All the ads have really muscular people which can draw the attention of people who want to look like that.
