Our group chose the blog http://io9.com/.This is an interesting blog because the rhetoric appeals to academia with stories about black holes and biology. However, it cleverly appeals to a larger audience with advertisements that range from t-shirts and movies to the side bar that contains stories more suited for the common nerd. The blogs ethos comes primarily from the authors that in general have graduate degrees in the field of which they are writing. As to this blog being timely, the main topics are subjects on the cutting edge of scientific research. In addition, the topics are relevant to the scientific community and society as a whole (although they might fail to recognize it). Overall, this blog is timely, relevant, and compelling on levels that could be said to "come from the future."

http://flawlessfitnessbook.com/blog/ The reason we chose this specific blog was because most of us are in a Sport and Wellness program and are always looking for ways to get fit. The theme of the blog is to promote an active and healthy lifestyle for everyone, mostly for adults and college students. The ads on the side bar are all related to the overall theme of fitness and to our class. The intended audience are towards the male gender because all the ads show men posing. Also most of the posts are for how men can do better in their workout. The ethos comes from the fact that the same author Fit Jerk, has posted nearly all of the blogs/articles. The nice feature about this blog site is the fact that the upper right corner peels open like it's an online magazine. The navigation layout is much like any other blog because the broad categories are situated at the toolbar, and then the in depth categories are listed once scrolled over. Also, like all other blog spots, the most recent post are shown on the homepage and easily noticeable for viewers.

Our group liked this blog becasue it seemed to have relevance for our class. Fittness is what the majority of us focus on either with our majors or our lifestyles. There were multiple ads that were on the side of the blog that were selling fitness equipment and clothing that most people would tend to workout in. Having this blog be so relevant to us creates pathos for us as readers because we are tied to what the blog is talking about because so many college students, adults, and people in general in America are looking for ways to get fit in a healthy way.

This blog is relevant to anyone who wants to stay in shape, or wants more information about staying healthy. Through the appeal to being fit the blog applies to us emotionally as readers. The commercials on the side add to the appeal by relating to different aspects of wellness. This blog also contains logos in the facts given to be healthy. It supports its claims with some evidence along with scientific information. Overall this blog is relevant to anyone who is interested in being healthy by providing factual information in many different topics.

Being a Sport and Wellness Scholar really factored into our group picking this blog. Fitness is something that should be realative to all people, not just our scholars group. This blog shows some signs of pathos because it relates to emotional things, such as the article that relates to telling your wife/girlfriend that she needs to lose weight, without being physically abused.

Our blog group picked http://gawker.com/ as our blog site. Not only is this blog relevant to us as college students, but also to all average people. It was very clear and understandable, especially because they just re-did the set up. The right side of the site contains different topics of blogs anyone can explore, including one about college! This website is very timely by having recent news blogged. When you go to the search bar you can click whether you want to see all blogs, blogs from today, last week, or last month. It contains pathos considering the most popular posts are located on the front page, easy for you to see. You can search for anything you want to read about. The site does contain some ethos by stating other sites or sources from which to find more information on the subject being spoken about. We thought gawker.com would be great site because it shows real life stories, news, gossip and much more, which will appeal to anyone.
